Fun Festive Makes #2: Paper Snowflakes

Crafting  your own Winter Wonderland

In this 3 part series we're looking at a few fun and quick festive makes, so you can enjoy some crafty goodness over the season without getting overwhelmed. Creativity is important for well being - and before you say you're not creative, think play! Everyone is creative - but many of us have simply forgotten how to play. Take a little oasis of joy away from the noise and hurly burly of the festive season, embrace simplicity and enjoy!

In part 1 we looked at some ideas for gift knitting, and this time we'll be taking a trip down memory lane to our childhood with some simple festive paper craft.

Part 2: Paper Snow Flakes

Get into the festive mood by making some good old fashioned paper snow flakes! Each will be unique and you can quickly decorate a window with these. Then, come January these can disappear into the compost bin so are both economical and eco friendly options for festive decorations, especially if you are able to use paper put out for the recycling bin.

This is also a great activity for getting children involved in which keeps them occupied and means you'll have less to make too. If you start at the beginning of December you can make it an advent ‘calendar' of sorts with new snowflakes drifting in as each day passes.

I usually stick mine to the windows using white tack which I can remove and use again. If you haven’t made paper snowflakes before, or it’s been a while since you did, check out this short video

I hope you are making time for some simple crafting this December - In part 3 we'll be having fun making some xmas cards.
